Who We Are

Formed in 2001 Shirehunters Inc. is a Hunting, Fishing & Outdoors club based in the Sutherland Shire. The club was started by 4 friends who wanted to share their hunting experiences via an online forum.

Fast forward to today and the club has grown significantly. We have many keen hunters who hunt with rifles & bows, plus plenty of keen fishers. Given our level of membership the club has chosen to become recognised as an Approved Hunting Organisation (AHO) with the Department of Primary Industries (DPI).

We hold a monthly social event where we go through upcoming club events, review recent hunts and on occasion listen to guest speakers. It’s also a chance for members to get together and discuss hunting/fishing topics as well as plan and organise hunts together.

The Club

Shirehunters Inc. at its core prioritises a social foundation. We value and encourage all members to share their hunting/fishing experiences; be it hunting rabbits on a small property, whistling foxes in a forest, chasing goats up and down the rolling hills, deer hunting during the rut or fly fishing in a mountain stream. It’s all about getting out there and having a go and sharing the experience with each other.

Club Meetings

Club meetings are held on the 3rd Thursday of each month at 7pm. Meetings take place at Club Heathcote (Address below). All Members and guests are welcome to attend the meetings. Club Committee members are usually in attendance; we can take new Memberships and answer any questions you have regarding the club. We also conduct DPI R-Licence testing. These nights are a great social way to get out and meet new hunters and catch up with friends.

Club Hunts & Activities

Each season Shirehunters Inc. organises a minimum of 3 Club Hunts which usually take place in the larger NSW State Forests under the NSW DPI R-Licence Scheme. The hunts are open to all financial members holding a valid R-Licence. Announcements are made on the clubs forum prior to the events so bookings can be made, which are generally on a first come first serve basis.

We also hold other social events throughout the year including Butchering & Sausage making days, .22LR target days, trips to the various ranges and an annual family Xmas BBQ.

DPI R-Licence Testing

Shirehunters is a DPI Approved Hunting Organisation (AHO). We can conduct R-Licence Testing for Members and Non-Members. If you require an R-Licence test please make contact below so we can ensure an accredited tester is available. The R-Licence test fee is included in your membership fee.

Equipment

Shirehunters Inc. has various pieces of equipment available to use free of charge for its Members. Items include reloading gear (supply your own dies), chronograph and spotting scope, lead sled, BBQ and gazebo’s. All bookings to use the club equipment can be made on the clubs forum.
